I did it!!
I did it! I finally got the banner pic to change! Hooray for me :) I find that it really helps if you tell it to "get" the picture from the same place you "put" the picture. Yeah, that helps.
So the above is a picture of Dan, clearly. What is not so clear is that he is sitting on our front steps, surrounded by snow drifts. It really did snow that much LAST WEEKEND, 10 days ago, and today it was 55 degrees here and most of it is gone. Everything between road and sidewalk is gone, except for the piles of sand and salt. The remains of these drifts are still there, but only a remnant of their former glory. But alas, there is a time for everything, even for the melting of snow.

We are #1!
When you have a web site you do crazy things sometimes...
For example, yesterday I was sending an e-mail to a friend whom we have not seen in a while. Rather than try to include all the information about what has happened in our lives since we last saw him, I sent him a link to our web site. Not so crazy you say, just wait... I then thought, what would happen if you did a web search for "dan and carrie".
Who in their right mind does a web search for two very common first names and thinks that perhaps their little crappy web site will be anywhere in the first 1,000,000 results? That would be me...
In any case I did, on Google, Yahoo, and MSN... and guess what I found out?
Of the 1,590,000 results on Google: we are #1!
Of the 2,880,000 results on Yahoo: we are #1!
of the 930,706 results on MSN: we are #1!
It is really rather amazing, that with the three largest search engines we come out on top. I tried the same thing using "carrie and dan" and while we are not #1 we are on the first page of results on each of these sites.
So, what does this mean?
I have thought long and hard about the results of my "highly scientific research" and these are the conclusions that I have come to...
Either:
A: We are immensely popular and everyone in the world (or at least on the World Wide Web) wants to know us.
B: I am the only one in the world to ever use these search terms
C: The government is spying on us (I want to see the warrant!)
D: Random people who do search for "dan and carrie" are so compelled by the amazingly interesting and supurbly intellectual content of our site that they cannot help but visit it!
or
E: No one remembers our URL!
Now there may be other possible explanations for this phenomenon, but the fact of the matter is that YOU made it happen, and for whatever it means, it makes me feel good. Kind of geeky, but good. and for that I thank you.
Sincerely
DAN
